On Purpose
Summer of 2022
“These details feel weighty, I understand, but if you have to pursue the
hazardous path of a life step by step, to see where it comes from and where it
goes, how to distinguish the superfluous from the indispensable?“
My Last Sigh, Luis Buñuel
We blink, breathe, touch and taste. There are actions we can choose to do; however, unconsciously,
our brain constantly sends orders to make those motions. We always see, but we can choose to look.
We are always sensing the world surrounding us, but we can choose to perceive it purposely. We
can decide to dim our physiological instincts with choices and desires.
Our body has automatic processes. These automatic processes allow us to interact with our
environment. Our brain receives constant signals that lead to us experiencing emotions. And what
are we if not the conglomerate of those feelings and emotions that shape a life. And what is the
purpose of life if not the feelings and experiences that we seek to feel.
